Where Will Russell Westbrook Go?

Where Will Russell Westbrook Go?

First off, I’d like to apologize for the inactivity over the last week or more. I am traveling throughout Europe with my family so it is difficult to write an article, response, rant, etc. Thanks for understanding and now onto the article.

Things are really bleak right now if you are an Oklahoma City Thunder fan, your icon Kevin Durant jumped ship to Golden State, and with no chance of winning anytime soon, the Thunder are looking to trade superstar point guard Russell Westbrook before they likely lose him for nothing in next year’s free agency. There are a ton of teams that are going to be dialing up the Thunder, trying to get a hand on Westbrook, but just know, it would likely just be a one-year rental. Here are 5 teams that I think should defenitly (try) to trade for Russell Westbrook.

Miami Heat

After the Big 3 RULED the East for four years, winning the East all four times, they have fallen mightily, with Chris Bosh being the only remaining member of that big three. Adding Westbrook would make up a core of Dragic, Westbrook, Winslow, Bosh and Whiteside, that’s pretty scary, and Westbrook is a lot better and younger than Dwayne Wade, so he would be an improvement there.

Boston Celtics

I feel that the Celtics without Westbrook might just be the team to beat in the Eastern Conference in 3-5 years when LeBron falls out of his prime and the Celtics youngsters hit theirs. Although the Celtics would probably have to part ways with Marcus Smart and one of the many Brooklyn Nets first-round picks, this would make the Celtics a superteam in their own right and put them up for Eastern Conference contention with the Cleveland Cavaliers immediately.

Chicago Bulls

Hey… don’t stop reading now, let me explain. After losing Joakim Noah and trading Derrick Rose, the Bulls have two really good things going for them, they have a star in Jimmy Butler, and they added Dwyane Wade. Find one more big name and the Bulls are a contender again (well they would probably need to get a center as well). The Bulls haven’t even reached the finals since Jordan left (1998), and they haven't been able to get past LeBron for years, so now is the time to strike before it is too late.

Minnesota Timberwolves

The T-Wolves are almost done with a long-endured rebuild, and this team is LOADED with young talent. The team still needs some veteran help though and Westbrook would be great. Adding Westbrook would make the Wolves contenders for many years to come.

Los Angeles Lakers

Carmelo Anthony to the Knicks 2.0. Back in 2011 Carmelo Anthony forced his way to the Knicks right before the trade deadline. In this trade, the Knicks were forced to give up every young asset they had in order to make a deal worth agreeing upon, decimating their chances of winning when the Knicks could’ve just signed Melo 5 months later in free agency. The Lakers should take one look at this scenario with Melo and not pull the trigger on a trade for Russell Westbrook, but these are the same Lakers that gave Timofey Mozgov $64 million, so they might just do it.
